On Tuesday, 10 December we held our 2024 AGM.

The event capped off celebrations marking 15 years of the health service. More than 100 community members, local dignitaries and AWH staff joined the Board for the meeting.

The AGM included a summary of achievements from the past 12 months including:

  • opening of the new $36 million Emergency Department at Albury
  • successful accreditations reflecting AWH’s commitment to high quality, person-centred care
  • implementation of the region-wide Patient Administration System
  • work toward a Reconciliation Action Plan, and
  • launch of AWH’s Strategic Plan – Transforming for Our Future

Special presentations were a feature of the evening:

  • Perioperative Services Manager Tim Malone and Paediatric Nurse Unit Manager Joanna Owen spoke about initiatives to meet the evolving needs of the community, strengthen partnerships with tertiary centres, and improve patient care, closer to home.
  • Chief Operating Officer of Acute Hospital Services Linda Hudec and General Surgeon Adam Skidmore spoke about opportunities to transform health services for the future providing patients with the right treatment, at the right time, in the right place.
  • Board Chair Jonathan Green and CEO Bill Appleby responded to a range of questions posed by the community covering topics including mental health services, the Albury Wodonga Regional Hospital Project, the intergovernmental agreement, advocacy efforts and the Health Services Plan.

The evening also included the presentation of finances with Ross Dallimore and a conversation with long-standing staff member Jess Amy who spoke about her observations and learnings from more than a decade with AWH.
